Select Board Adopts New Cemetery Plot Policy
Select Board · Meeting of September 28, 2026
Hamilton Select Board adopts cemetery policy, loses quorum mid-meeting. Members voted 3-0 to adopt a revised Hamilton Cemetery plot purchase policy restricting sales largely to residents, and appointed veterinarian Victoria Duggan to a seven-member Conservation Commission. The board also approved, 3-0, temporary signage for the Essex County Trail Association's "Thanks for the Trails" 5K and Kids Fun Run.
North Shore IT Collaborative Executive Director Colby Cousins told the board Hamilton now pays roughly $25,000 a year for shared IT services, up from about $17,000 when the eight-town consortium began five years ago. Watershed association president Dave Lash asked for a letter backing a state grant targeting the lake's "171 phosphorus-producing septic systems." The meeting ended early when a member lost quorum, cutting off a town-planner and economic-development discussion.
