Groveland Approves Interim Fire Chief Deal With Georgetown
Select Board · Meeting of September 28, 2026
Groveland's Select Board approves an interim shared fire chief and hears a rooster-noise grievance. The Select Board voted 4-1 Monday to install Georgetown Fire Chief McKay as Groveland's interim fire chief for up to 180 days; Vice Chair Steven Baker cast the lone no vote, objecting to language framing the deal as a step toward a permanent shared department. Separately, residents TJ and Allison Fennel told the board their recordings captured 962 rooster crows in June and 1,013 in July from a neighboring Main Street hobby farm; the board voted unanimously to seek a written update from the owner and continue the matter to October 26.
Members also reviewed a TEC traffic study showing 85th-percentile speeds of 43 miles per hour on Salem Street and weighed a townwide 25 mph limit under Chapter 90, Section 17C. The board ratified a new town administrator contract reaching $162,470 by fiscal 2030.
