Newbury Library Trustees Approve Minutes, Hear Report on Programs and Facility Issues
Library · Meeting of February 10, 2026
Newbury Library trustees received a routine monthly update at their February 10 meeting, approving prior minutes unanimously and hearing Director Hayley Hart report on facility issues and recent programming. Hart said the Department of Public Works has been helping remove ice from drop boxes and the building entrance, while a planned UV window film installation was delayed by weather. A recurring alarm system malfunction — the same error code flagged months ago — has left the building without an active alarm some mornings, with no resolution yet from the alarm contractor.
On a positive note, Hart reported strong program attendance, including 31 children at a ukulele event, and announced the library has acquired the Stak platform for digital tracking of summer reading participation. All staff positions are now filled, and a librarians documentary screening is being planned in partnership with Newburyport. The board's next meeting is set for March 10.
