Westwood Planning Board clears scenic road tree removal, delays child care facility decision

NORTH ANDOVER — June 2, 2026 — Westwood Planning Board unanimously approves scenic road tree removal, continues child care facility hearing. The Board, chaired by Ellen Rawlings, voted unanimously at its June 2 meeting to approve removal of four dead or dying trees in front of 504 Canton Street following a joint public hearing with the Westwood Tree Warden, finding the trees to be unhealthy and a hazard. The Board also continued its public hearing for Foresight Child Care Facility at 260 Washington Street, where the applicant seeks waivers of parking design standards, on-site parking supply requirements of one space per employee and two spaces per classroom, and screening requirements for trash areas and parking lot edges; the Board offered "detailed feedback" to the applicant and pushed the hearing to July 28, 2026.
