The Swampscott Planning Board unanimously approved a site plan for a 96-unit development at the historic Glover Farmhouse property on Salem Street.
Planning Board · Meeting of October 19, 2026
SWAMPSCOTT — The Swampscott Planning Board unanimously approved a site plan for a 96-unit development at the historic Glover Farmhouse property on Salem Street. Chair Joseph Sheridan and Vice Chair Angela Ippolito led deliberation after Glover LLC representative Spencer Cassell presented updated traffic, drainage and geotechnical reports submitted only days earlier. Traffic engineer Sean Kelly projected delay increases of "one to four seconds per vehicle" at the Salem and Vinnin Street intersection, while Swampscott Police Traffic Officer Kevin Rean warned that nearby Sunbeam Lane was already absorbing cut-through traffic.
The Swampscott portion is part of a 140-unit, two-town project with Marblehead that includes 17 deeded affordable units locally. The board conditioned approval on relocating the Glover House's Vinnin Street exit, Department of Public Works sign-off, and implementation of the traffic study's recommendations. Tedesco Country Club's attorneys sought a continuance for independent peer review, calling 250 pages of material "dumped" on them days before the vote, but the board moved forward unanimously.
