Board of Selectmen · Meeting of March 24, 2026
SAUGUS — The Saugus Board of Selectmen voted unanimously, twice, to extend a special permit for a 198-unit, six-story apartment project at 920-950 Broadway. Selectman Jeff Cicolini made both motions, a six-month and backup 12-month extension, each passing 5-0 on roll call, after attorney Richard Magnum said Planning Board review has stretched past the project's original 2022 approval. New resident Ting Gao, of 14 Kayla Drive, told the board "we oppose this, like, extend the four stories, like a building to six," saying she learned of the height only after buying her home.
Separately, Vice Chair Anthony Cogliano said his own water bill jumped from $1,900 to $3,500 despite finding no leaks, and cited a constituent whose bill rose from $200 to $1,100. The board also extended Aggregate Industries' quarry permit 5-0 and approved a new mall coffee shop's license.
