Board of Selectmen · Meeting of October 7, 2026

Saugus Board of Selectmen found no record of a disputed 2025 meeting and heard a daughter's seven-year plea over a lost memorial plaque. The board voted 4-0 to send resident Barbara Dusnapp a letter stating the town could locate no minutes, notes or cable recordings of a Board of Selectmen meeting she said occurred May 20, 2025, at 6 p.m.; Chair Debra Panetta said a meeting that day was actually held at 7 p.m. and a 6 p.m. session had been canceled. Patricia Catterett of Nottingham, N.H., told the board she has spent "over seven years" trying to get a plaque honoring her late father, Donald Tibbetts, replaced after it went missing during renovations at Belmonte Middle School.

The board also voted 4-0 to grant a common victualer's and entertainment license to Swirl House, a new coffee and ice cream shop planned for 38 Hamilton Street, and approved extended hours for Coles and Best Buy around Black Friday and a video game launch.
