Peabody's Planning Board recommended City Council adopt a rewritten billboard ordinance. Planning director Kurt Belovance said the council removed the section in 2017 and the city solicitor drafted new language. The city leases billboard space at $15,000 per year for static signs and $25,000 for electronic ones.
Abandoned billboards would draw fines after 30 days, up to $300 per day, and no new billboards would be allowed. Members questioned why the legal notice listed only section titles, and the board recessed for copies before voting unanimously on a roll call. The board also continued the 303 Lowell Street group home plan review to May 7, 7-0.
