Council on Aging · Meeting of October 19, 2026

NEWBURY — The Newbury Council on Aging approved an updated vehicle policy that lets staff use a newly leased SUV when the senior van is unavailable. Chair Damon Jespersen apologized for missing recent meetings due to travel, then presided over a unanimous vote to adopt the policy, which Director Cindy Currier said was reviewed by town counsel Lisa Mead. Members also discussed a proposed outdoor fitness court at Central Green, a joint project with the Recreation Committee and National Fitness Campaign that has already secured a $40,000 Blue Cross Blue Shield grant, though Currier said "the shade structure alone is $100,000." She said the Recreation Committee has not committed to the project.

The board set its next meeting for November 16 at 9 a.m. and deferred approval of outstanding minutes to that session.
