Groveland COA board adds McElhenney, backs office review
Council on Aging · Meeting of September 16, 2026
Groveland's Council on Aging board added a former member back to its ranks and ordered an outside review of its own office, all at the outgoing director's final meeting. The board voted to welcome Larry McElhenney back as a board member, pending Select Board confirmation September 28, as he steps down as chair of the Friends of the Groveland Council on Aging. Board member Barbara reported the director search committee, now including HR volunteer Peg Wallace, has three applicants and one interview scheduled.
Members voted, with one dissent, to authorize a town-funded third-party "organizational and operational review" of the COA office after community members raised concerns about workflow and staffing coverage. One board member warned the review adds "unknowns" during an already fragile transition; another called it "the perfect time." The formula grant is on pace to bring in just over $30,000 this year.
