COA Board Names Search Panel, Flags Review Timing

Council on Aging · Meeting of August 19, 2026

Groveland's Council on Aging board finalized a director search committee and questioned the timing of a proposed departmental assessment. Board members warned that Town Administrator Rebecca's proposed outside review of the department, still only a draft, could complicate hiring a permanent director after Director Alissa departs around October 1. Barbara Sanborn was named search committee chair, joined by Larry McElenny, Annie Schindler, Darcy Lapoor and Judith Gosby.

Alissa's annual report showed 5,474 face-to-face contacts in fiscal 2026, nearly double fiscal 2023's total, and more than 17,000 logged one-on-one interactions. "It's difficult as a board member to be able to intelligently respond, question or even vote if we feel like we don't have all the information," one member said. The board also began forming an ad hoc transition committee to plan basic services after Alissa's exit.
