Board of Health · Meeting of September 14, 2026
Andover's Board of Health referred a Gracken Terrace landlord to Lawrence Housing Court over an unresolved lead paint hazard affecting a family with young children under six, after he blew past a 30-day correction deadline and painted over contaminated surfaces himself. The board separately fined Village Square Liquors $1,000 and suspended its tobacco permit for one day after a clerk sold tobacco to a minor on August 26, with the town's tobacco agent calling the violation "a measurable mistake." The board approved a grease-trap variance for a new mahjong café, Hidden Parlor, and heard that Andover is restructuring its health division into a combined health and human services department after two failed director searches, with health agent Cameron Shamey and a full-time public health nurse both starting August 10. The town remains at "moderate" risk for West Nile virus, with eight positive cases statewide as of September 12.
