Board of Health · Meeting of October 6, 2026
LYNN — The Lynn Board of Health cut a tobacco fine against Richdale after finding its own violation letter was sent out incorrectly. The board reclassified an August 20 compliance-check failure at 59 North Franklin Street from a fourth violation to a third, lowering the fine from $10,000 to $5,000 while keeping a 30-day tobacco sales suspension, now set to start November 1. A board member said the acknowledgment came after staff admitted, "that letter was sent out incorrectly." Separately, the board granted ShopQuick's appeal over a self-service cigar humidor violation after an inspector testified he had no direct evidence the display's broken, duct-taped lock had actually been left open.
Staff also described a regional collaborative's plan to ask the Massachusetts Attorney General's office to investigate tobacco manufacturers and distributors for mislabeling flavored nicotine products, including Zin Chill and Zin Smooth, as unflavored.
