Groveland CPC Approves 8 Eligibility Applications
Other Committee · Meeting of September 21, 2026
Groveland's Community Preservation Committee unanimously advanced eight eligibility applications toward 2026 CPA funding. Recreation Committee members Stephen Hayes and Michelle pitched, respectively, shade structures for the Bagnell playground and a riverfront park at Shanahan Field, and an ADA-accessible walking loop around the Pines Recreation Area. Select Board representative Kathy Kesternelis outlined a passive-recreation courtyard to replace town hall's unwatered front lawn, while Town Administrator Rebecca Oldham pitched a Pines basketball court rebuild and a scope change redirecting about $11,000 from a shelved splash-pad shade project into new benches.
A Groveland Garden Club presenter sought backing for pursuing National Register status for the 1865 Little Red Schoolhouse, estimated at $10,000 to $12,000. "It will cost more if it's historic," member Mike said, debating the designation's tradeoffs. The Bagnell basketball court project, meanwhile, has spent $180,315 of its $250,800 allocation.
