Finance Committee · Meeting of October 7, 2026

Groveland's Finance Committee certified $1,922,384 in free cash for fiscal 2026, part of a year-end report showing town revenue came in about $473,000 over budget. Town Accountant Ellen told the board that motor vehicle excise taxes beat budget by $242,000 and building permits by $123,000, while operating expenses finished roughly $618,000 under budget. Free cash now equals about 8 percent of the general fund budget, but Ellen cautioned that the town's own reserve guidelines keep between $726,000 and $1.2 million of it off-limits, warning members: "free cash funds are one-time funds, they are not guaranteed the next year." Town Administrator Rebecca said the town's strategy remains "we do not want to overburden the taxpayers." The board tabled approval of July 8 minutes, not yet produced, and set its next meeting for November 18 at 6 p.m.
