Conservation panel delays vote on Evergreen Lane garage
Conservation · Meeting of September 9, 2026
Groveland conservation board delays garage ruling, clears two smaller permits. Commissioners continued a hearing on a 26-by-28-foot garage at 16 Evergreen Lane to October 14 after finding roughly 95 percent of the project's footprint falls inside a 75-foot wetland no-build zone, scheduling a site visit for September 19. The board unanimously approved negative determinations for a hazard-tree removal at 96 Washington Street and a septic system replacement at 1 Cranton Avenue.
Commissioners also confronted unauthorized tree-clearing at the former Groveland Getty station at 301 Main Street, where co-owner Christine Stepanian said "Groveland means a lot to me," while commissioner Terry warned the work was done "without a pre-construction meeting" required under an existing order of conditions. The board separately voted 3-0-1 to appoint commissioners to a hiring committee after cleaner Benedict St. Clair's resignation, and learned a vendor mowing VZ Park's fields wants a 150 percent rate hike, from $1,000 to $2,500.
