Board Approves Permits, Election Warrant Routinely

Select Board · Meeting of October 13, 2026
Groveland's Select Board heard a housing trust primer and debated a field-group outreach plan, taking no vote on either. North Shore Realtors' Patrick McGuire told the board affordable housing trusts are "much more closed door" than Community Preservation Act spending and cited Salem's trust, which he said has "never had it funded," as a model listening body. Vice Chair Steven Baker raised whether the board needs a formal agenda-setting policy after researching the question with the state's open meeting law office, which he said confirmed "it doesn't" cover who controls the agenda; member Edward Watson said he saw no need for one.
The board also discussed, but did not vote on, a proposed twice-yearly and once-yearly check-in schedule with groups like the Garden Club, Historical Society and local youth sports leagues. Routine 4-0 votes approved permits for a Pines Pavilion birthday party, Pumpkin Fest on October 21, and posting the warrant for the November 3 state election; member Kathleen Kastrinelis was absent.
