Conservation · Meeting of August 18, 2026

Andover's Conservation Commission voted to continue a notice of intent for a drainage overhaul behind the Stop & Shop plaza at 209 North Main Street, ordering an independent peer review after the state Department of Environmental Protection flagged the stormwater plans. Conservation Director Ben Mead said the project would add 952 cubic feet of flood storage while replacing deteriorating pipes that discharge toward the Shawsheen River. Engineer Sarah McCarthy called it "very much a maintenance improvement project." Commissioners separately approved, 5-0, a deck replacement at 12 Willard Circle filed by Jason Clark, and voted 6-0 to pause site monitoring on a stalled residential project until spring 2027.

Staff reported 66 responses to a new spotted lanternfly survey and previewed an October 17 statewide forestry conference at West Elementary School.
