Select Board · Meeting of March 31, 2026
Wenham set a June 11 special election to fill a vacant Select Board seat. The board, presiding over by member Benjamin Tymann, voted 4-0 to call the election after Town Clerk Dianne Bucco warned that leaving the seat open risked tie votes, which fail under state law; the vote will cost an estimated $6,000. Members also voted 4-0 to give the Affordable Housing Trust $100,000 more, on top of $200,000 already spent, to finish renovating 2A Dexter Lane, and to let the trust rent the unit to a household earning up to 80 percent of area median income.
The board and the Finance Committee each voted unanimously to recommend Town Meeting approval of a credit-purchase solar lease at Iron Rail, projected to save money over 25 years. "A tie vote in a municipality fails," Bucco said.
