Select Board · Meeting of March 18, 2026

Swampscott's Select Board voted 5-0 to back a plan to save the Glover Farmhouse under a 99-year, dollar-a-year lease tied to a National Development housing project. Historical Commission Chair Nancy Schultz and Vice Chair Jonathan Lehman said Save the Glover Inc. has raised more than $500,000, including a $250,000 pledge from National Development, toward a roughly $2 million restoration goal. One board member warned the town "cannot afford a track for our track runners" while weighing decades of subsidy for the farmhouse.

Separately, the board voted 3-2 to have the Water and Sewer Infrastructure Advisory Committee's chair vet candidates for four alternate seats rather than appoint applicants directly, and voted unanimously to send a revised fiscal 2027 budget, trimmed by roughly $1.07 million, to the Finance Committee.
