Select Board · Meeting of June 15, 2026
Hamilton's Select Board approved a scaled-back Fourth of July veterans event and finalized a townwide shift to automated trash and recycling trucks. Jewish War Veterans Post 220 commander Donna Lehman got the green light for a flower-built "Betsy Ross" flag event at Patton Park, but the board cut her requested 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. window to 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with member Ben Galuza warning midday heat "it's been a tough one" for kids after a busy morning. The $3,000 event, funded by the Essex County Community Foundation, still needs health-department sign-off on food.
Town Administrator Joe told the board Casella is moving to automated one-person trucks starting July 1, issuing standard 96-gallon bins, though roughly 80 households have already requested smaller 60-gallon bins. The board also approved the Community House's 13th annual block party and summer concert series at Patton Park, reappointed more than a dozen volunteers to town boards, and added Joan Melanson as a full Council on Aging member.
