Hamilton's Select Board locked in Oct. 3 as a backup date for a possible fall special town meeting and reorganized its committee liaison assignments. The board voted 5-0 by roll call for a Saturday, Oct. 3, 8:30 a.m. start, choosing it over a mid-November date so residents have less time to delay bringing articles forward. Town Moderator Sean Farrell said the town has run "an abundance" of town meetings over the past year and urged the board, "I would implore the board to do what they can to not have a fall town meeting." The board also set a June 29 goal-setting retreat and reshuffled liaison seats across roughly two dozen boards, with new member Lee McCoy picking up five committees including the Hamilton Development Corporation and the Human Rights Commission.
Separately, the town manager said Hamilton holds 76 town-owned parcels and fielded an inquiry about selling one on Gregory Island Road.
