Select Board · Meeting of August 18, 2026

Danvers Select Board approved a morning traffic ban on Preston Street, ending a five-year resident fight over cut-through commuter traffic. The board voted 4-0 to bar westbound travel on Preston Street from 7 to 9 a.m., after resident Barbara Santarella said she'd complained to police since 2021 and showed video of a near-miss involving a child. The board also appointed Connor McCorkle, Gloucester's current treasurer-collector, as town accountant, and suspended liquor licenses for Cappy's Liquors and J&J Asian Cuisine for one day, August 29, after a repeat compliance violation; both businesses, along with Torito's Mexican Restaurant and the 466 Pub & Grill, face an October 6 hearing on further license action.

In a closer 3-1 vote, the board let Winchester Savings Bank install a projecting sign over the public way at 44 Maple Street despite member Gardner Trask III's objection that it exceeded the town's 20-square-foot sign limit.
