Select Board · Meeting of August 3, 2026

Hamilton Select Board raises senior tax exemption limits for the first time since 2010. Chief Assessor Jane Dooley told the three members present that the $50,000 annual Chapter 91 program serves about 22 households a year; the board voted unanimously to raise the single-person income cap to $70,000 and married-couple cap to $90,000, with asset limits of $225,000 and $300,000. DPW Director Tim Olson said the town's recycling rollout is "about 95%" deployed but downtown businesses generating "upwards of 20,000 pounds" of cardboard some weeks still need a pickup solution.

Clerk Rosemary Kennedy presented a draft cemetery plot purchase policy restricting eligibility for former residents, while the board also weighed how to spend an estimated $2.7 million in one-time revenue from the pending Gordon-Conwell apartment sale, a cell tower lease and the Patton Homestead sale. Vice Chair Thomas Myers presided in the absence of Chair William Olson and member Benjamin Galuza.
