SAUGUS — The Saugus School Committee voted to adopt a new artificial intelligence policy for students and staff. The 4-0 vote on policy JICAB came after Superintendent Hashem described an AI task force of teachers and an IT staffer working on "human centered learning," academic integrity and AI literacy, with Gemini as the district's current tool. Members also approved an online fundraising policy, 5-0, and a student activity accounts policy, 4-0, letting the principal move money from dormant clubs with committee approval.
Principal Scazzarella won a 4-0 roll-call vote approving roughly $10,000 in prior transfers that covered old bus bills, and the committee tabled next year's program of studies, which adds AP Physics 2, AP Cybersecurity and a revamped wellness curriculum, until March 12.
