Planning Board · Meeting of September 8, 2026
Groveland Planning Board approves water plant, softening a fence rule tied to $15 million in funding. The board voted unanimously to approve the site plan and special permit for the town's new water treatment plant at 183R Main Street, keeping a six-foot security fence condition in place but adding language letting it be waived through a minor modification once MassDEP finishes its own security review. Applicant engineer Ryan Allgrove of Apex said "the site is secure," while facility operations manager Colin argued "the fence is not going to be what stops anyone from doing something bad." Groveland Water and Sewer faces an October 2 deadline to submit for state drinking-water funding.
Separately, the board cut required parking at the former Getty gas station on Main Street to four spaces for a planned flower shop, Garden Getty, over concerns raised by neighboring Norwood Insurance about spillover traffic.
