Newbury Planning Board Continues Central Street Subdivision Hearing to July 15
NEWBURY — June 3, 2026 — Newbury Planning Board continues Central Street subdivision hearing to July, closes out Boston Road site plan. The board, meeting remotely via Zoom on June 3 with Vice Chair Pete Pecos presiding in the absence of Chair Woody Knight, voted 4-0 to push the continued public hearing on a two-lot definitive subdivision at 15 Central Street in Byfield to July 15, after Planning Director Kristen Grubbs reported that plan revisions submitted just days before the meeting had not yet cleared peer review and that sign-off from the Byfield Water District on a redesigned water service layout remained outstanding. Applicant Michael Becker, doing business as 15 Central Street Byfield, LLC, agreed to request a three-month extension of the statutory decision deadline — currently set to expire June 20 — to avoid repeated administrative continuances over the summer. The board also voted 4-0 to close out the site plan review for K&R Construction's completed project at 84 Boston Road, with peer reviewer Joe Serwaka confirming all revisions were satisfactory, including added light shields brought in to address dark-sky compliance concerns; remaining escrow funds will be returned to the contractor after a subsequent vote once final peer review invoices are settled.
