Lynn Water Commission votes to accept regional chemical bid

Lynn Water Commission declares Level One drought, limits outdoor watering to one day a week. Commissioners Grace, Losey, Motul and Salina heard that the reservoir stood at 66.9 percent capacity as of March 31 against an 83.9 percent average, with March rainfall of 2.86 inches versus a 4.59-inch average and daily consumption of 10.5 million gallons. Staff said the city's Ipswich River draw is "right on the threshold" and could be shut off within days.

The board voted unanimously to accept the region's annual chemical purchasing consortium bid and set a Friday ribbon-cutting for a new stormwater pump station on Commercial Street. Staff also reported progress on Kings Beach sewer-separation sampling and a coming subsurface utility survey for the next combined-sewer separation phase.
