Library Board Ratifies Director, Presses Generator Bid
Library Board · Meeting of April 6, 2026
Middleton library trustees learn the Friends of the Flint is sitting on $269,000 while declining to help fund a generator. The Library Board of Trustees unanimously ratified a contract with new director Olivia Gatti, then spent much of Monday's meeting pressing the Friends of the Flint nonprofit over a $269,000 building fund raised nearly two decades ago after the group voted 6 to 1 against contributing to a $165,000 generator and septic relocation project. Trustee Maria said she felt "a lack of trust from the friends," while Trustee Susan countered, "I just feel that the friends are a separate entity from us, and I respect their decisions." The project is funded through free cash on the May 12 town meeting warrant regardless of the Friends' decision, and trustees invited the nonprofit's president, Annie, to their next meeting.
