Other Committee · Meeting of September 14, 2026
ANDOVER — The Andover Historic Districts Commission approved two Central Street door-replacement applications and then rescinded its own acceptance of February's minutes. Members unanimously cleared a half-glass door swap at 57 Central Street, where the oldest section of the house dates to 1678, and a full door-opening replacement at 72 Central Street, where the applicant said the existing door "is rotting both on the inside and outside." Commission member Matt voted by roll call from remote participation on each item. The commission then discovered its February minutes misstated who held the vice chair post, with the chair saying "I had said I'd be happy to do vice chair, but it shows Catherine Robinson as vice chair," and voted unanimously to undo its earlier acceptance of those minutes.
Members said a draft rewrite of the commission's design guidelines, prepared by Chris Scully, has been split into separate versions for the Ballardville and Central Street historic districts for further review by a small working group.
