Groveland's Recreation Committee advanced a plan to open river access near Shanahan Field and set an October 27 trail workday.
Other Committee · Meeting of October 8, 2026
Groveland's Recreation Committee advanced a plan to open river access near Shanahan Field and set an October 27 trail workday. Committee members Steve and Patrick toured the overgrown riverside parcel with Conservation Commission Chair Mike Dempsey, who indicated a required Notice of Intent filing would run $8,000 to $10,000 before any brush clearing. The project, along with proposed shade structures at Bagnall Elementary and an accessible path at the Pines, won Community Preservation Committee eligibility approval in September and could reach Town Meeting in 2027.
Woodworker Jim Laffrey has finished four of six planned trail kiosks. Separately, member Emilio concluded dedicated bike lanes are "just not feasible" on most town roads and proposed pivoting toward bike paths instead. The committee unanimously approved backlogged minutes from June 2024 and September 2026, and set its next meeting for November 19 at 7 p.m.
