Groveland recreation board preps three CPC funding pitches
Groveland Recreation Committee lines up three funding pitches for the town's Community Preservation Committee.
Other Committee · Meeting of September 3, 2026
Groveland Recreation Committee lines up three funding pitches for the town's Community Preservation Committee. Member Michelle plans to present a paved, accessible walking path at the Pines modeled on Haverhill's Riverside Park, while the committee chair is reviving a fiscal year 2008 proposal, once funded with $12,000 in landscaping money, to turn land near Shanahan Field into a waterfront park after it stalled over neighbor objections. A 200-foot conservation buffer along the Merrimack River will require Conservation Commission review.
The committee also plans a shade-structure application for the Bagnall School playground and confirmed a bridge connecting the rail trail to the Center Street Greenway should open by year's end. Members approved July 23 minutes and set the next meeting for October 8, warning "that's a red flag word, maintain" about Community Preservation funding limits on upkeep costs.
