Groveland Planning Board balks at zero-parking flower shop, continues hearing to Sept. 8. Applicants Christine Stepanian and Robert Zouli asked to convert the vacant Groveland Getty gas station at 301 Main Street into a florist shop called the Garden Getty, seeking a special permit to cut required parking from seven spaces to zero because of the property's existing lease with the U.S. Postal Service.
Board members pushed back, with one saying "zero is a big, important number" and unlike the board's earlier approval reducing parking from 17 to 10 spaces on the combined lot. Property owner Lee Jing, appearing remotely, said the Postal Service's lease runs 99 years and could not be renegotiated, and declined to share the lease document itself. The board also continued a site plan and stormwater special permit for a proposed water treatment plant to August 18, after engineer Bill Burnham of TEC reported the applicant resolved all 27 items from TEC's original comment letter.
Dennis J. McNulty was reelected chair, 2-0-1.
