Gloucester Planning Board Continues All Three Agenda Items, Sets June and August Hearings

GLOUCESTER — May 21, 2026 — Gloucester Planning Board votes unanimously to continue all active items at May 21 session. The board voted 7-0 on three separate continuances: a Major Project Special Permit for a 40-unit mixed-use development at 150 Main Street submitted by Gloucester Maine, LLC, pushed to June 4; a Watershed Protection Overlay District special permit for a proposed Applied Materials logistics center at 11 Dory Road, also moved to June 4; and a proposed Gloucester Zoning Ordinance amendment that would exempt flagpoles under 30 feet from the definition of "structure," deferred to August 6. Member Sean Henry briefly questioned why the flagpole definition matter "keeps getting kicked down the field," and Planning Director Greg Katsaros explained that active litigation touching on the current definition prompted the city solicitor to recommend delay. Katsaros also previewed a new Applied Materials expansion permit application, separate from the Dory Road project, expected to appear on the June 4 agenda.
