Gloucester Planning Board approves Applied Materials logistics center and building addition on Dory Road

Planning Board · Meeting of July 16, 2026

Gloucester Planning Board clears Applied Materials for logistics center and building addition on Dory Road. The board voted unanimously Thursday to approve watershed protection overlay district special permits and site plan reviews for two Applied Materials, Inc. projects in the Blackburn Industrial Park: a new U-shaped logistics center at 11 Dory Road and a building addition at 35 Dory Road. Planning Director Greg Petitmajor told the board that the projects satisfy watershed protection criteria, finding they "have been designed to protect groundwater and surface water resources through appropriate stormwater management" and will not have "a significant adverse impact" on the surrounding area.

The 11 Dory Road project received City Council approval for building height on Tuesday and awaits Conservation Commission sign-off, expected at that body's August 6 hearing. The board also unanimously endorsed an approval-not-required plan dividing 18 Briarwood Court to allow a family to gift a buildable lot to their adult son, after the Zoning Board of Appeals on June 25 deleted a 1970 condition prohibiting further subdivision of that parcel.
