Conservation · Meeting of August 4, 2026

Newbury's Conservation Commission voted to ratify enforcement orders against three Farm View Lane properties for unpermitted paving that violated a 2020 wetlands order of conditions. Conservation Agent Mason Ferrick said the violations involved special conditions tied to DEP File #050-1327, issued Dec. 9, 2020. Attorney Peter During of Verrill, representing the Farm Lane Homeowners Trust, told the board the three homeowners received the order July 31 and have hired an environmental engineer, saying they "take it seriously." The commission also continued two linked hearings on a 0.8-acre phragmites treatment project along Seaview Lane and Old Pine Island Road, after abutter Linda Nielsen raised concerns about herbicide drift near private wells.

Members approved certificates of compliance for 26 Northern Boulevard and 18 Temple Boulevard West, both by 4-0 votes, and scheduled an Aug. 11 site visit.
