Board of Selectmen · Meeting of January 13, 2026
Saugus Board of Selectmen voted 5-0 to modify a 2001 special permit at 4 Hewlett Street, clearing the way for A&J Construction Corp. to buy a longtime roofing property. Attorney Brian McGrail represented seller Stephen R. Kalman and buyer Anthony Natale, telling the board "simply what we're requesting is an ability for him to operate the business." Chair Debra Panetta called it unprecedented, saying "this is the first time... that I remember anyone modifying an S2 permit" in her 14 years on the board.
New conditions set hours at 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., cap trucks at one Ford F-650, one Ford F-550, and two Ford F-250 pickup trucks, and require indoor storage of other materials. The board also approved Albert John Tamburino Jr. as Fox Hill Yacht Club manager, Lauren Flynn as VFW Post 2346 manager, and kept the fiscal year 2027 departmental budget flat, all by 5-0 votes.
