Planning Board · Meeting of August 18, 2026

West Newbury's Planning Board continued hearings on two subdivision applications to September 8. The board unanimously advanced review of a 26-unit open space development at 187 Main Street proposed by John Sarkis's The Poppies, LLC, on 19.6 acres, after engineer Jay Polakowicz detailed stormwater systems designed to cut peak runoff roughly in half. Vice Chair Brian Murphey raised concerns about wetland access for a proposed lot split at 20 Ash Street, saying "I'm troubled by the access for the new lot," while member Ray Cook said he was not convinced the access was "reasonable or practical" as submitted.

The board also welcomed Interim Town Planner Denise McClure, approved April 7 minutes 5-0, and set site walks for September 3 and a tentative September 12.
