School Committee · Meeting of October 8, 2026

North Andover School Committee approved two sets of minutes and moved its first budget directive discussion up to October 22. Superintendent Langthorpe presented a first read of four proposed goals covering governance, student learning, strategic plan implementation and finance, telling members "we also will be having significant collective bargaining work ahead of us this year." Member Ed Moscovitch pressed on whether evaluation must follow a state rubric, asking "is that true, or is that just something we've always done that way?" Assistant Superintendent Kristen Ando said the district has only one literacy coach districtwide and told the committee "I think our goals need to be more aggressive going forward." The district's IDEA special-education grant was approved on its first try, converting six teaching assistants to permanent positions, and the committee expects roughly $25,000 in state earmark funds October 16 for high school auditorium and athletics improvements.
