Peabody's next high school will need to make room for one of the state's most crowded athletic campuses, according to School Committee members reviewing the PVMHS building project.

PEABODY --

HIGH SCHOOL -- At the Aug. 25 School Committee meeting, member Mr. Mikko raised the question of how the new Peabody Veterans Memorial High School building will fit onto the existing athletic campus, noting it includes a hockey arena, football field, and baseball and softball fields, and asked whether other communities have designed around a similarly packed sports campus. Superintendent Dr. Vidali said the project's architects have begun site work and underground analysis to determine field configurations, but that "there's nothing definite on our site yet" until that review is complete. The committee also discussed recent building-committee visits to Attleboro High School and Arlington High School to study design ideas ahead of the Peabody project's schematic design phase.

YOUTH LEAGUES -- Peabody Little League has posted its fall schedule, with games beginning Sept. 6 for its Peabody White, Navy, Blue and Silver squads against opponents including Salem, Saugus, Lynn and Wyoma teams, along with local matchups such as Peabody White against Peabody Blue on Sept. 9.
