Nahant School Committee closes fiscal year with $123,084 in bills, $24,430 in budget transfers. Meeting Wednesday, June 24, the committee approved payment of $123,084.32 in outstanding bills and voted through 16 separate FY26 line-item transfers totaling $24,430.05, moving money into accounts ranging from teaching supplies to software licenses. Superintendent Rob told members a "literacy launch institute" training tied to the state Department of Elementary and Secondary Education had pulled a committee colleague, Heather, away for the night, and said the district's special education director post remains unfilled, staffed month to month on an interim basis.
Parent Ben K, attending as a guest, said he was "just here to observe what's going on." Members also fielded a resident inquiry about when information on Swampscott Middle School sports signups, including a July 13 hockey deadline, would reach Nahant's incoming fifth and sixth graders. The committee adjourned at 7:23 p.m.
