School Committee · Meeting of November 2, 2026

MIDDLETON — The Middleton School Committee unanimously adopted four revised or new policies covering school choice, parent advisory councils, student medication self-administration, and school visitor procedures. Superintendent of Schools Scott Morrison updated members on the Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Operations search, now receiving about eight applications after an October 20 posting through search firm NSDEC, with finalist interviews expected the week of February 1. A district administrator's MCAS presentation showed chronic absenteeism driving a 21-to-26 percentage point achievement gap, with Howe Manning School posting a 77 accountability percentile statewide.

The PTO's fun run raised $77,000, exceeding its $60,000 goal, prompting Howe Manning's principal to be "turned into an ice cream sundae last Tuesday" as a results-linked wager. Masconomet Regional School District Superintendent Heather Galanti, five months into her role, told the committee she has met with more than 100 stakeholders as part of her formal entry process, with a findings report due in February.
