Middleton Boards Unanimously Appoint Olivia Gaddy as Flint Library Director

MIDDLETON — February 23, 2026 — Middleton appoints Olivia Gaddy as Flint Public Library director in unanimous joint vote. The Select Board and Library Board of Trustees interviewed two finalists on February 23 — Gaddy, currently library director at Pinkerton Academy in Derry, New Hampshire, and Pamela Gardner, director of the Medfield Public Library for seven years — before voting 9-0 to appoint Gaddy, following an initial 7-1 tally that became unanimous after Trustee Allison Sloan changed her vote, saying "I want to be a team player." Supporters cited Gaddy's success driving library attendance at Pinkerton to capacity — the school now turns away more than 1,000 students per month — and her youth programming expertise; opponents raised concerns about her lack of municipal library budget experience and unfamiliarity with ARIS state reporting. In a second unanimous vote, both boards approved $40,000 in retroactive compensation for Assistant Town Administrator Jackie Bresnahan, who served as acting library director for roughly nine months while also carrying her full HR and administrative duties; Town Administrator Justin noted the contracted Biblio Temps alternative would have cost approximately $115,000 at a rate of $75.92 per hour.
