Lynn water board adopts bylaws, tables COLA letter

Municipal Authority · Meeting of September 15, 2026

Lynn Water and Sewer Commission learns Alley Street sewer fix now costs $8.5 million. Commission Director Jim told members Stantec's updated construction estimate rose from an original $6 million figure due to higher costs, with a public discussion set for the Lynn City Council on September 22. The commission also adopted revised bylaws on a 3-0 roll call vote, with Commissioners McRae and Walsh absent, and tabled a non-union, non-contract cost-of-living letter to its next meeting.

Staff reported the reservoir stood at 48.7 percent capacity, below the 67.9 percent seasonal average, keeping the system in level three drought status after 110 sprinkler warnings were issued in August. The wastewater treatment plant operator, Veolia, is projected to save the commission roughly $147,000 a month after flow ran below contracted levels, even as the commission sent Veolia a letter citing "very concerned" non-compliance with its discharge permit.
