Groveland's Town Meeting Study Committee votes 5-0 to pursue electronic voting devices, sidelining a Saturday meeting switch. Chair Joe D'Amore and members reviewed survey data compiled by Emilio Dunn showing electronic voting could gain roughly 10 attendees per 100 with minimal risk of losing regulars, versus a smaller, riskier gain from moving to weekends. Select Board member Steve Baker briefed the panel on a visit to Georgetown, where officials use radio-frequency voting clickers that "light up green" when a vote registers.
Member Jennifer Petersen and D'Amore noted Groveland cannot unilaterally shift its meeting day because a regional school-budget vote requires all three district towns to meet the same night, a hurdle compounded by a needed bylaw change. The committee aims to bring final recommendations to the select board in March.
