State Budget Directs $175,000 To Lynnfield Capital Projects
LYNNFIELD — Lynnfield is set to receive $175,000 in new state funding for town projects under the finalized fiscal year 2027 state budget, along with an increase in Chapter 70 and unrestricted local aid, according to the office of House Minority Leader Brad Jones. The news lands as the town's public library works to determine what programs it can still sustain after recent staffing cuts and a tight budget, even as it moves ahead with new events tied to the nation's 250th anniversary.
SCHOOLS Lynnfield Public Schools announced three new student contests tied to the town's 250th-anniversary observance: a photography contest, an art contest and an essay contest. The district posted the contests on its website this week without further detail on deadlines or judging, alongside its standing quick links on the fiscal year 2027 budget calendar and the district's strategic plan for 2026-2031.
COMMUNITY & ARTS The Lynnfield Public Library will host a free virtual program Monday, July 20, from 7 to 8 p.m., "Celebrating America's 250th: The Black Experience of the Revolution," presented by Gracia Rich, who uses the title "Herstorian." The program is open to all ages and continues the library's tie-in programming to the town's semiquincentennial events.
The library's "Summer Saturdays" series continues Saturday, July 18, from 10 a.m. to noon with a paper-bag-lantern craft session for children ages 6 to 11.
