Saugus Announces 250th Anniversary Celebration Plans
SAUGUS — The town is preparing a celebration of the nation's 250th anniversary of independence, while the Saugus Public Library kicks off a new summer concert series at the Iron Works this week.

The Town of Saugus is inviting residents to a celebration marking 250 years of the nation's independence, according to an announcement posted to the town's website. Details on date, time, and location were not specified in the notice, but the town encouraged residents to watch for further updates.
In other recent town business highlighted on the municipal homepage, Town Manager Scott Crabtree previously issued a warning regarding an extreme heat forecast for Saugus and announced National Grid gas main work planned for portions of Central Street and Lincoln Avenue. The town also continues to promote its Wellness Collective Walk at Breakheart Reservation and an invitation for residents to place flags at veterans' graves at Riverside Cemetery.

Saugus Public Schools' website continues to feature the FY27 School Committee-approved budget and accompanying budget timeline as the district's most prominent recent posting, alongside the FY26 approved budget for comparison. The district's news page also points residents to its Community Newsletter End of Year 2025 Edition for a recap of recent happenings across Veterans Early Learning Center, Belmonte STEAM Academy, and the Saugus Middle High School Complex.

The Saugus Public Library will open its Summer Concerts at the Iron Works series on July 15 with a performance by Renee Leavitt & the Renegades. The library is also currently hosting "Forged in Saugus: Donna-Marie Mironchuk," an exhibit on display in the Reading Room at 295 Central Street through July and August.
The library's Yoga Experience program is on hiatus for July and August and is expected to resume in September. Meanwhile, the library's Adult Summer Reading and Teen Summer Reading programs continue for the 2026 season, with children's programming built around a Pokémon theme. The library is closed Saturday, July 11, and will hold Free Summer Reading Enrichment Programs for grades 1-2 and grades 3-5 on Monday, July 13, along with a CFCE Playgroup for ages 0-2 on Tuesday, July 14.

The library's Summer Concert at the Iron Works featuring Renee Leavitt & the Renegades takes place Wednesday, July 15. The Zoning Board of Appeals is scheduled to meet Thursday, July 23.
