Peabody Man Charged Over Child Sexual Abuse Material Found On Phone
PEABODY — A Peabody man is facing a federal transportation charge after investigators said hundreds of images and videos containing child sexual abuse material were found on his phone, according to a Patch report Wednesday. The city also continued to operate under mandatory outdoor water use restrictions tied to the state's critical drought declaration.

The city remains under the state's Critical Drought Declaration, which has triggered mandatory outdoor water use restrictions in Peabody, according to a notice posted on the city's website. Residents are directed to a detailed PDF outlining the restrictions as officials continue to monitor water supply conditions this summer.

SCHOOLS
Peabody Public Schools continues preparations for the 2026-2027 school year, with the district calendar listing a School Committee Retreat set for Aug. 13, a regular School Committee meeting Aug. 25, a new teacher orientation day Aug. 26, and a professional development day with no school for students Aug. 31. Kindergarten screening is scheduled to begin Sept. 2, according to the district's events calendar.

The Peabody Institute Library's South and West branches continue operating under their summer schedule, effective since July 6: Monday and Tuesday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday 1 to 9 p.m., closed Friday, and Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Main Library keeps longer weekday hours, open until 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
