Methuen Sets Events Marking Overdose Awareness Day
METHUEN — Methuen will spend the final days of August marking International Overdose Awareness Day, with a family support meeting, a memorial flag placement and a televised community program scheduled over the next two weeks, according to the city's community events calendar.

The Circle of Hope Family Support Group meets Monday, Aug. 24, offering a gathering point for families affected by overdose loss, per the city calendar. The city will hold a Flag Placement Event for 2025 Overdose Victims on Thursday, Aug. 27, a memorial marking lives lost to overdose in the past year. The observances continue Monday, Aug. 31, International Overdose Awareness Day, with a live television program produced by the city.
On the municipal side, the Zoning Board of Appeals holds its regular meeting Wednesday, Aug. 26, according to the city calendar.
In the schools, Methuen High School holds New Teacher Orientation Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 25 and 26, ahead of the broader district's return. All staff report for the first day Tuesday, Sept. 1, with students following Wednesday, Sept. 2.
