Methuen Residents Shielded From Latest National Grid Rate Hike
METHUEN — City officials confirmed Methuen's locked electricity supply rate will shield residents from National Grid's latest Basic Service rate increase through December 2027, while the city also opened the calendar for early voting in the 2026 state primary.
TOWN HALL
The city announced that Methuen residents will continue to be shielded from National Grid's newest electricity supply rate increase, with the city's own locked-in electric supply rate holding steady through December 2027 even as National Grid's Basic Service rate rises again for other customers.
Election officials also detailed the early voting calendar for the 2026 state primary. Registered Methuen voters can vote early in person from August 22 through August 28 at Sanborn Hall, or request a mail ballot, with the deadline to apply for a mail ballot set for August 25 at 5 p.m. Vote-by-mail applications for both the primary and the state election are also arriving in mailboxes now, the city said.
A water system work notice posted for August 4 flagged a service interruption at Haverhill Street and Hobson Street as crews carry out repairs.
